A Minister’s Musings | Worship Preparation

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. In six days, He brought forth everything from the stars of the heavens to the creatures of land and sea. On the seventh day, He rested and enjoyed the work of His hands. To this day, Jews observe the Sabbath as a day for rest, enjoyment, and worship. But what comes after that? What happens on the eighth day? The early Christians recognised that Jesus rose on Sunday, the day after Sabbath, for a reason. Sunday, the eighth day, is the dawn of a new creation. Today, Christians continue to...

Myanmar Fundraising

Myanmar Fundraising

From the Elders: Many of us are aware and concerned about the volatile situation in Myanmar. This was made worse with the recent surge in COVID cases. The leaders have kept in close contact with our Myanmese mission partners and brethren. We are very much encouraged by their unwavering faith in God and commitment to His Kingdom work despite the unrest and COVID situation.  However, they face increasing hardship, mainly from the lack of food and medical supplies. Several have appealed for financial support to help them through this difficult period. The leaders have decided to send an initial amount...

The Church is looking to upgrade its audio-visual and live-stream set up. This is due to multiple factors, including the expiry of our current streaming service and the eventual Rebuilding. As we acquire new equipment and software, we are also looking for about a dozen members who might be interested in serving as our AV/Tech Team. This opportunity is open to men and women of all ages. This team will be responsible for handling our live-streams each week, including learning the technological set-up, running slides and mixing audio. The commitment will be relatively light, with each person serving about one...

A Minister’s Musings: How To Celebrate National Day

A Minister’s Musings: How To Celebrate National Day

It’s that time of the year again. Shopping malls and HDB estates fly banners of red and white. Restaurants and e-commerce platforms every-where are promoting special offers and discounts tied to the magic number ‘56’. National Day is a time to remember our history and roots. In various ways, we retell the Singapore Story of how a fishing village transformed, against all odds, into a metropolis through the grit, determination and unity of people from different lands. In particular, this National Day is a unique celebration of hope. It celebrates that there is still some good in this world, even...

A Minister’s Musings: Hope of Olympic Proportions | By John Lim

A Minister’s Musings: Hope of Olympic Proportions | By John Lim

On 21 July, the Straits Times reported that the head of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus showed his support for the Olympic Games, calling it “a celebration of hope”. He added, “The Olympics have the power to bring the world together, to inspire, to show what’s possible…may the rays of hope from this land illuminate a new dawn for a healthier, safer, and fairer world.” Tedros’ words seem to have a spiritual air about them and I think he’s right. The Olympics do indeed have a unique power to ignite hope, and God knows we sorely need...

AMF Sunday Worship: What You Need To Know

On Sunday, AMF will be embarking on something massive and exciting: an international Sunday worship service. At 11am Singapore time (UTC+8), worship leaders from Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, the Philippines, India, New Zealand, and the United States will lead our global community in worship via Zoom. Our Sunday schedule remains unchanged. We will continue to hold in-person worship and live-stream via our church website. The only difference will be that there will not be worship leaders physically standing on stage. The sermon will take the form of a dialogue between two missionaries. It may feel less formal than usual, but you...

We also invite members of the Church and your contacts to participate in the tender process if you are interested. For more information on both the main building and nominated sub-contract work, please visit our “Rebuilding Project” tab on our website.
