5 Ways Care Teams Can Help You Grow
It's Later Than You Think

IT’S LATER THAN YOU THINK:

There is no telling how many souls Care teams have saved, restored and rescued from drowning. Too often, we only begin to notice the decline when a member is irregular or stops coming for services altogether. Usually when this happens, it is already too late in many cases!

Like an iceberg, we only see the one-tenth that is visible. The reality is that there exists a mass that is nine times of that which we see already submerged in water. Let’s retrace these steps.

1. If you are not reading your Bible regularly or keeping a consistent prayer time with the Father, this is the first danger sign that your faith could begin to falter. You have decided not to feed on the daily manna of God’s word and find it a waste of time to talk with the Creator.

2. The next move is not to be involved in serving the Lord or His church in any way, shape or form. From men to serve to Bible class teaching, each service holds no privilege nor blessing for you. If you had your rathers, you would sit them out.

3. What follows is that your attendance at church becomes a ‘hit or miss’ affair. If you are still attending Bible class, it is because of other members of your family rather than interest on your part. Church is no longer a choice but a chore.

4. At this point, all other activities of the church become rather intrusive in your lifestyle. Retreats, church camps... these events are not on your calendar.

5. By this time, you will be very aware of your sad state of affairs and lack of devotion. However, instead of doing the right thing by giving all diligence to return to the Source, you seek the easy way by accompanying your friends to highly motivated rallies or services. Alas, this quick fix does not last long and you give up this option before long.

6. Right now, spiritual matters are totally foreign to your mindset. If there is a baptism at worship, it is more of a bother that extends your time of worship rather than an occasion of great joy. Like the chorus, your eyes are dry and your heart is cold.

7. You are now more of the world than of God; more of an absentee than a member. If you happen to be in church at one of those rare occasions, you spend more time talking with others even when the service is in progress as you are in no mood to sit through any worship. As such, you leave as soon as you can, before the announcements or closing prayer, since you have no interest in what is going on.

8. At stage 8, you are avoiding church members and do not want them to call on you, as every call is regarded as a manipulation to win you back. You spend more time with hobbies, all of them with non-Christians friends.

9. You become critical of the church, its leaders and members. The pearl of great price is no longer valuable in your eyes, so you decide to drop church altogether... falling into the 10th step, like the tip of the iceberg left standing.
