Hands on review of the Nintendo Wii

the nintendo wii is a game console like no other
it uses the wifi to sense the movement of the wiimote
so that you actually do swings on golf, backhands on tennis
and squatting on wairoware's smooth moves

more than that, wii connects you to the internet
allows you to surf around with the free opera browser
play free flash games on your wii from many sites
download retro nes, snes etc games to play on wii
check out news and weather...
even play game cube discs
when i was in macau late last year
there was a store that was selling the wii like crazy
i got most of the games and stuff i wanted
but when i was told at the checkout that
it was a japanese set without english language configuration
i dropped all the stuff and went home empty handed
- boy, was i glad i didnt brought it
as i would never unearth so many stuff
if i got the japanese set

the best place to get a set is in australia
my nephews tell me that it was going as low as S$400
so when my daughter took a holiday to sydney
it was first on her shopping list

at this time of writing (CNY 2007)
while stores in singapore are taking pre-orders on the nintendo wii
seow choon (jurong west) sells the usa set for $648
and wii universal ac adapter $39 (for usa set)

this thing is amazing
and works straight out of the box
extremely revolutionary
and perhaps now gamers will get some exercise as well

golf, tennis, bowling, baseball, boxing
- i recommend you get the sports set attachments
(golf, tennis and baseball)
so you feel more into the game

there is a better wii boxing game
that is more than just the cartoon-like one offered here
when it comes out
i'll get a pair of boxing gloves as well

also got warioware's smooth moves (us version),
- it's really fast and furious
and super monkey ball
to help me learn how to use the wiimote
- it's all on the wrist

as well as a classic controller
to play retro games that i download
and in case
i dont want to exercise so much
because it is so new
people who visit me are really amazed
and enjoy the wii so much
whee!
