Hands on Review of the M1 Unlimited 3G Vodafone Plane
some of you may be aware that i am testing out m1's unlimited 3g data plan on my pda-phone
it has been great, using the specially designed built-in sony ericsson opera browser
and for a flat fee of $68 (beware - plus extra for gst)
you get peace of mind in surfing the web, checking on emails etc to your heart's content
i woke up last week only to be greeted by the photo of a nice looking guy on the front page of ST
who was sentenced by the courts for taping on wifi belonging to others
actually i wasnt aware that this was such a serious offence
at astrid meadows all the ang mos just have their wifi on 7/24
and it is a very simple matter for me to go online any time
but as i wasnt about ready to spend time in the slammer
i went to the new no-q m1 at imm and extended my 3-month trial for 2 years
currently there is a promotion and you get the nice red pcmcia card ($over $400) for the sim card free
slot it into your notebook (like it is now), and you are up and away in cyberwave
no need to go to a hotspot - since it is 3g, it will work anywhere in singapore
and if you are travelling, vodaphone has roaming partners all over the world
(except india!! why pakistan has it and not india is really strange)

btw i was talking with peter soh yesterday
and he was saying that there is no point as we will be getting islandwide wifi next year
well, dont hold your breath
1. wifi hotspots next year only in malls and entertainment hubs
2. will take a while before it comes to your neighbourhood - several years in fact
3. wifi connection is not the easiest fix in the world - becomes more difficult when more people are using it
we have to take a wait and see attitude on this island-wide wifi
in the meanwhile, a 3g vodaphone card is the next best thing
instant on, good speed, one price
it even works on your desktop if you have a pcmcia slot or usb pcmcia connector
