Laridian's Pocket Bible:
Works Seamlessly with Major Reference Works

I have probably stalled too long in securing a good Bible for my PPC. Since I migrated from the Palm OS to the PPC scene, I have been using the simple but adequate Bible Reader from OliveTree.
Recently, before embarking on yet another mission trip, I purchased a couple of Bibles and reference works from Laridian and loaded 'em on my Ipaq. I was amazed at the features and how seamlessly Pocket Bible inter-relate to each of 'em.
Pocket Bible
I was sold on this program the moment my eyes casted on those calculator-like keyboard to flip to any desired text on the Bible. There's a lot more: red letter, footnotes, bookmarks, personal note entry and cut-and-paste. A very nice Bible indeed. BTW the Bible versions I opted for are the NIV and my beloved KJV.
Reference Works
For starters, I have selected 3 programs to test the waters - to see how well they worked. So far,I must say that I am more than satisfied. Pocket Bible integrates them well, in an intuitive easy-to-use fashion.

First, I chose Topical Bible, a digest of the Holy Scriptures with more than 20,000 topics and over 10,000 references to the Scriptures. It is a concordance of sorts and an indepensible aid for any study, lesson preparation or just curious about any subject in the Bible. Great stuff!

Next, for even more help, like definations, I go for the New Unger's Bible Dictionary by Merrill F. Unger. This classic work is based on the Bible Encyclopaedia edited by Charles Randall Barnes in 1900. Unlike a topical Bible, a dictionary does more than refer to passages but also arranges the subject matter and related information together. This is especially helpful in a Bible class situation when an unfamilar subject is discussed. Mr Pocket Bible PDA will be the class authority!

For good measure, to complete my spending spree, I bought the New Unger's Bible Handbook as well. More than a dictionary, a handbook is a great Bible study tool especially if you are preparing book studies. Subjects such as the Bible and archaeology, how we got the Bible, Bible history etc are extensively covered. There is an outline for each and every book of the Bible. The commentary though not verse-by-verse, is covered in a summarised manner from the expansion of that outline.
If you want more than just a Bible to carry around on your PDA, the PPC is more than capable of doing much more and Laridian do have more stuff than these few I have mentioned.
