First Looks at the Nokia N95
Tne Nokia N95 is currently the most powerful mobile phone around. So powerful, that Nokia referred to it as a computer rather than a phone.
The N95is smaller than the Nokia E70 and also lot lighter. It is very nice to hold and the buttons has a good touch. When the phone slides in the direction of the above photo, it unlocks the phone and you are ready to go.
Sliding the phone the other way opens the multi-media features, and you would be forgiven if you forget that it was a phone as there is no number keypad to give its true identity away.
One of the best things about this phone is the 5mp camera with Carl Zeiss lens. It shoot good pictures even in the dark. Now is a good time to get rid of my digital camera.
I am looking forward to see how well the gps functions. There is a CD with maps of Singapore, Malaysia and a few other Asian countries. Will report as I try out the many functions of the N95.
With some time on my hands, I decided to try out the gps. It was really a no-brainer - just go to maps, choose Singapore and send your email to register. Use search to choose where you are and where you want to go (put 'em in favorites). Once you determined the starting point and destination, the n95 asks if you want to activitate gps. Answer yes, and you're on your way.
The fix is not instantaneous, but not too bad. Once I was a Bugis junction and got the fix at Bras Basah complex. When I went down in the North Cannal tunnel, the fix was lost but picked up once out of the tunnel. It's not as good as the Bell gsp, but a lot better than my Acer PPC.
