HTC Dream aka G1 Android Google Phone

i have never ever liked a phone as quickly as the htc dream
it's a real phone
the hard buttons - home, back, menu makes it easy to use
no need to sync to a computer
and so bright and clear
- and what i didnt like
the built-in sms and phone
i replace it with the chomp sms and phone book

all the apps are free
imagine a dictionary and thesarus free
also nes emu with games!
- i suspect many more better apps are waiting to come in
as soon as google starts the paid apps section
- stuff like ms office
and hopefully a useable screen capture for my reviews

ok, enough ramblings. here goes

1. iphone and gphone
******************

- both are born out of an entirely new OS
- both are heavy users of data and internet
- both are groundbreaking in many ways
- both has an apps store - very easy to download stuff

imho only nokia can keep up with these two
if it continues to innovate and move to touch screens
- forget the rest
esp palm and windows mobile
which are running on a really ancient OS

2. gphone vs iphone
****************

- at the offset, gphone does not have the bad attitude that iphone has
it listens and allows modification as an open system
- its first release is bug free unlike iphone who had just cleaned up its act
a few months ago - putting loyal users through much pain
- gphone is a real phone with cut and paste, mms etc missing in iphone
very easy to use and configure
- all gphone apps are free at this time; gphone leans heavy on app tools
while iphone is heavy on games, lifestyle, entertainment etc

i really liked the gphone and it has all the stuff i need
it is now my first phone
and i can freely recommend it to anyone
even my grandmother

3. iphone vs gphone
****************

- the current 2.2 firmware is stable and for the first time, working great
gphone is also stable
- i am able to get all my emails into iphone; works like a dream
gphone repeatedly rejects my yahoo mail
- iphone is slim, bright, clear, easy to use - but a huge learning curve
ghone is easiler to adapt for normal phone users
- iphone has more memory, more stuff at the apps store
gphone is just starting, but will catch up and overtake iphone

iphone is not for everybody
but now that it is more stable, better
if gphone was released before valentine
i would have given it to my wife
instead of the iphone

here are some gphone related stuff i have posted on the web
