Stunning Arcade Games
For the Windows Smartphone

I love mobile gaming. Windows smartphone games are light years ahead of Nokia-type Java games. Especially when the memory of an average Nokia is just 5 or 6mb while smartphones can carry SD cards up to 1 gig. No wonder with larger memory (RAM and Storage) and a fast ARM processor, smartphone games are capable of the highest quality.

Recently, as I was on the WWW, I logged on to one of my favourite game vendors, clickgamer.com. This is one of the best places to go for PDA games, especially since they have loads of smartphone stuff. The site is very nice, with good descriptions and lots of screenshots of the many games they offer. From my experience, I find that it provides fast, friendly and helpful service also.

TRICK SOCCER

As the name suggests, it is not a soccer game but lets you play 3 mini soccer tricks, namely Kickoff, Penalty and Footbag. Each is a nice game in itself, together it is a fun software for just a few bucks.

Kickoff is a nice starter to train your kicking skills. The game allows you to shoot a few times until you reach your target. Just the kind of thing to let go some stress during the heat of the day.

Penalty is my favourite of the 3 games. Although a bit difficult, once you get the hang of it, it is pretty fun. It would be great if there is an option to choose an animated goal keeper instead of a board with holes.

The trick in Footbag is keep the ball from hitting the ground as long as you can - with all parts of your body. A nice touch is that you get bonus points, if you can clap while doing this trick.

Bottomline:
Good variety of games
Stunning graphics
Easy controls
Choice of easy-normal-hard levels
Activity and story game modes
Nice soccer music soundtrack.

6th Gear for Smartphones

Another game I got from clickgamer.com was 6th Gear, a 3D car-racing game.

I wasn't too sure that I can handle a car racing game on a PDA, since I even Funked Zodiac's Stunt Racer; so I thought I'll have a go on the demo, to be on the safe side. I don't mind telling you that I was hooked instantly as I was very impressed by the look and feel of this game. Although a little expensive for a smartphone game, it is still under 10 bucks and you really get alot of software for your money.

Here's the lowdown on 6th Gear's features that I liked most:

A polished 3D rendered graphic car racing game that's easy to play, and not difficult to win, even for a dud like me (ie in the easy mode).

I especially like the auto cruise mode where the car runs by itself instead of having to keep it up to speed all the time. For a chicken racer like me, this spells out one less control to get in the way of my gameplay.

While the arcade mode is great, the one-on-one option keeps the road clear so that you can concentrate on chasing just the car ahead. I'm glad that the computer car just don't get lost on the horizon, but there are many chances for you to catch up and beat it.

Also, the vibration is really a nice touch especially when you are negotiating a curve!

On top of these unique features, 6th gear comes with 5 sceneries, 6 car skins, 3 weather conditions: sun, rain & snow and 4 game modes: practice, arcade, one-on-one racing, circuit modes!

You may customize your own car to your heart's content, including: drag, brakes, grip, mass, engine performance, gear ratio's, cruise control, MPH or KMH display, and of course, auto or manual gear shifting.

Bottomline: it's really great value for money - for a game that is so thoughtfully designed and oh, so playable. Highly recommended.
