Angel Egg: Another Great Pinball from CeCraft

It was quite some time ago that I raved about Young Paladin pinball by CeCraft. It was the first real pinball port to the PPC that plays as good as it looks. After all these time, it is still my favorite.

A few months ago, I got a Cassiopeia E-200 after parting with my beloved iPAQ 3700. Upgrading to the PPC 2002 OS was more painless than I imagined, so I got the new xScale Fujitsu LOOX for a lighter, brighter and longer battery life. This was when I revisited the CeCraft site.

As a dedicated pinball hustler, I was immediately attracted to the cutesy Angel Egg pinball. As a port from Little Wings, I am assured of a quality table.

The first thing I discovered after I downloaded the software was that the install program requires the PPC to be physically connected to the PPC. I find this a slight hassle as I prefer softwares that uses cab files to install. With cab files, all I need is to copy 'em into my storage card and tap on these programs.

After the quick install, you are asked for your password when you activate the game for the first time. It is great that the program comes with a key configuration utility. I personally prefer to use the rightmost and leftmost keys for flippers. With so many new PPCs (Toshiba, Fujitsu, NEC etc.) released recently, such a utility can decide the playablity of many a game. Nice touch.

As a game, Angel Egg has a straightforward goal - get 'em eggs. The bright colours, cutesy graphics and smooth gameplay makes this table a nice break from Young Paladin.

It comes with everything a gamer would wish for in a pinball program - multi-balls, nudges, replay etc.

On the high score chart, there is an obvious attempt to get you to post your achievements on the web.

If pinball is your forte, Angel Egg should be your nest.
