TUAO MISSIONS REPORT 2007

PAST

1. First Church
Following a recce trip in May 2005 and the Medical Mission trip to Tuao in October 2005, the Tuao Church of Christ was established. It was marked with its first baptism, Bunyan Quintin and the birth of a baby girl.

2. Early Baptisms
The Church, housed in rented premises grew rapidly with baptisms of both young and old from the villages. The number grew to 30 by end 2005.

PRESENT

3. Church Growth
The Tuao Church of Christ, with PP’s support, grow from strength to strength under the ministry of Jhunma, his wife Babes, and his assistant minister, Oscar. New members have been added to the Church in the last one and a half years. Membership stands at 80 today.

4. New Premises
By the grace of God, we managed to acquire a piece of land 20m by 30m in early 2006 to build the New Church. Plans were drawn and funds were raised for the building of the Lord’s House. Construction started in late 2006 and the Church is now completed for worship. The building is meagre, with an “open” auditorium, and covered kitchen area, living quarters, and toilet facilities. More importantly, it is built on a firm foundation and a strong roof. The Church, with God’s Blessings took off with its first worship on Sunday, 17 June 2007.

5. VBS
To-date, PP mission trips conducted two VBS for the children at Tuao, one in May 2006 and another in May 2007. Both trips were led by Bro Edward Lee. Sis Dorothy Tay, Mildred and Karen conducted the VBS in 2006 whilst the youths: Shawn, Valmond, Joanne, Magdalene, Charmaine and Geraldine led the VBS this year. Our mission trips to Tuao have helped to sustain its growth.

6. Youth Mission
The first Youth Mission trip to Tuao, from 6-17 December 2006, was led by Deacon Winston Chong, Edward Lee, Kelvin Koo and Ooi Boo Chye with 15 youths. Their experience was spiritually heart-warming both for the Tuao villagers and for themselves. Our youths, upon their return have shown greater appreciation and commitment in their service to the Lord.

7. Anniversary Celebrations
The Tuao Church celebrated its First Anniversary on 8 October last year, with Edward Lee gracing their celebrations and making the address to the congregation. The Church will celebrate its Second Anniversary in the first week of October 2007.

FUTURE

8. Training in Evangelism & Leadership
Though young in its ministry, Jhunma has identified youths with zeal and hunger for the word of God. He has engaged them in the Word of God and in training them to teach the word of God. With a good grounding in the scriptures and commitment for the Gospel, these young people can be groomed for leadership in the Church.

9. Care Teams
Seeing the success of the Care Teams at PP, the Tuao Church can model after our Care Teams. We will continue to work with the Tuao Ministry to help them in setting up Care Teams.

Dorothy Tay & Edward Lee
