In November 2006, our minister and his wife made an 8-day tour of Chennai and Mumbai, India. The purpose of the trip was to renew ties with Mumbai brethren and open new grounds for partnership in Chennai, where the locals speak Tamil, the dialect of Indians in Singapore.
In Chennai, brother Henry Kong and sister Nat met with a dozen preachers, spoke at two preacher-training schools and visited an orphanage run by members of the churches of Christ. We hope to bring two preachers, brothers David and Knight to Singapore for our June camp.
In Mumbai, brother Henry spoke at the congregation that brother Joe preaches while sister Nat conducted a ladies' class. On the Sunday that there were in Mumbai, brother Henry spoke at the city-wide service and conducted a leadership seminar with sister Nat. Brother Joe will be joining us for this year's camp.
With a great rapport established, we hope to revive the India Interest Group at PP and get a few projects going in 2007.
